To better serve our diverse range of riders, Pedal the Cause is excited to announce its new training program for 2014. Whether your only experience cycling has been on a beach cruiser with flip-flops or you are a competitive rider, Pedal has revamped its training program to suit ALL level of riders.

Beginners’ Clinic

We’re kicking off the 2014 season with a Pedal the Cause Beginners’ Clinic! On

Wednesday, March 5th at 6:00pm, Revolution Bike Shop in Solana Beach will host this Beginners’ Clinic for your Q&A on how to shift, how to clip in and out, how to change a tire, what to wear depending on conditions, basic riding etiquette when riding with others, and more.

Then on Sunday, March 9th, our first training ride will go out from El Camino Bike Shop in Encinitas Village.  The ride options will be 15, 29, or 40 miles – your choice.  El Camino Bike Shop will be open with helpful hands if you need a last-minute kit replacement, spare tube, or quikfil. We’ll even pump up your tires!

We are changing up the rides a bit this year, with a staggered start for each ride and more support for new riders. The 40-miler will head out at 7:30am, the 29-miler at 8:00am, and the 15-miler at 8:30am.  The new training start times offer an opportunity for most riders to finish together and mingle while enjoying complimentary refreshments after a rewarding training session. Plus, the 15-miler riders will get a quick cycling Q&A to answer questions before hitting the road.

Before the ride we’ll have Peet’s coffee hot and waiting for you, or a $1.00 off your favorite drink. After the ride, Nekter JuiceBar will be ready with a free smoothie to quench your thirst.  And more Peet’s, of course.
