Join us in hearing general updates on pediatric medicine and oncology from Rady Children’s Hospital CEO Dr. Patrick Frias and Pediatric Oncologist Dr. Bill Roberts before our featured project spotlight with Dr. John Crawford that just received Padres Pedal the Cause funding in collaboration with Dr. Weschler-Reya of Sanford Burnham Prebys: a pilot trial to test the benefits of real time drug screening to determine individualized treatment plans for children and young adults with relapsed or refractory medulloblastoma.

Our second webinar will focus on advances in lung cancer research being led by a collaborative team of scientists from the Salk Institute, Sanford Burnham Prebys, and UC San Diego Health. Join us in hearing from Reuben Shaw, Director of the Salk Cancer Center, Dr. Hatim Husain, Associate Professor of Medicine and Oncologist at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center and Dr. Nick Cosford, Deputy Director at SBP, as they answer questions and discuss their recently funded project entitled an examination of inhibitors of the ULK1 autophagy kinase as therapeutics in NSCLC.

Our third webinar will focus on gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) research and will feature a clinical team led by Dr. Jason Sicklick, Assistant Professor of Surgery at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, Dr. Adam Burgoyne, Medical Oncologist at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, and Dr. Christian Metallo, Associate Professor of Bioengineering at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center. The team received funding in 2018 for an open-label, phase 2 clinical trial testing the efficacy of temozolomide (TMZ) in advanced succinate dehydrogenase (SDH)-mutant/deficient gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Join us in learning about advances in the team’s research and follow-on funding received for the project.
